Burlington Police uses force to arrest a man who was going to hit the officer with a water jug

On Sunday, June 2nd 2024 at approximately 2:53 p.m. a caller stated a male was exposing himself to pedestrians and provided a description of the mail an officer located the mail and asked for identification, but the suspect refused to identify himself and then attempted to walk away.
The officer tried to deescalate the interaction, but the suspect continued to try toleave when the officer tried to prevent the arreste from leaving
the arreste swung a gallon jug of water at the officer's head, the officer blocked the jug with his hand and then brought the arreste to the ground in a controlled manner once on the ground
The arreste began to twist and turn against the officer who was also on the ground trying to take the arreste into custody
The officer sprayed the arreste with OC several times before it was effective
The arreste attempted to throw handfuls of dirt and mulch into the officer's face, attempting to blind the officer
This hindered the officer's ability to take the arreste into custody several officers arrived on scene at this time to assist
The arreste continued to twist and push against the other officers as they assisted the first officer
Officers were able to handcuff the arreste
