Decatur body cam captures the sound of bullets whizzing by an officer while dispersing a large crowd
The Decatur Police Department released body camera video from a shooting incident on Saturday night.
According to the Decatur Police Department, officers were dealing with large crowds of people in multiple locations, with 300-500 young adults present. Around 2 a.m., officers were attempting to disperse the crowd at Jasper and Wood when shots were fired in the direction of the officers.
Police say the shots fired sounded like a fully automatic handgun could be heard, followed by what sounded like a semi-automatic handgun.
It is unknown if the shooters were targeting the police, but regardless, the officers found themselves in the line of fire. Thankfully, no officers or citizens were injured during this incident.
