VCSO deputies rescue stranded motorist standing on top of his vehicle
Overnight (around 2 a.m. Saturday), VSO High Water 2 responded to the area of Osteen Maytown Road and Shoreline Road, Osteen, for a driver in need of rescue.
Deputy Danny Clifton (driver), Deputy Jose Agosto, Deputy Daniel Berriozabel and Sgt. Graeme Foster proceeded 2 miles through about 5 feet of water with a ditch on one side of the road and a canal on the other. Deputy Agosto periodically exited the truck to gauge the distance between the roadway and the ditch.
Deputy Clifton strategically maneuvered around multiple stranded vehicles, ultimately making contact with the stranded citizen, who was standing on the roof of his completely submerged Chevy Silverado. Utilizing a rope safety ring and life vest, Sgt. Foster and Deputy Berriozabal were able to pull him to safety. Great job!
