Body camera footage released of Springfield man being shot, killed by ISP trooper on I-55
As part of its investigation into a deadly shooting on Interstate 55, the Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigation has released dash camera and body-worn camera footage from the exchange on Feb. 24 of this year.
ISP officers were initially called to the scene near Lexington at milepost 177 for a report of a man with a gun and shots fired involving two parked vehicles on the interstate shoulder.
The agency said that when officers arrived, 37-year-old Trayvon Little of Springfield emerged from one of the vehicles and pointed a firearm toward officers. Officers exchanged gunfire with Little, and he was fatally shot. No other injuries were reported.
Subsequent investigation has confirmed Little fired a shot from inside his vehicle in the direction of another vehicle before ISP officers arrived on scene.
