HSCO releases bodycam, dashcam video of chase, K9 arrest along Highway 249
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office released body and dashcam video of a chase and shooting that left a deputy and a suspect injured late last year.
It happened on Nov. 7, along Highway 249, according to the sheriff's office. A deputy tried to stop Carlos Harper, 19, but he kept driving until he crashed. The video shows the deputy yelling at Harper to get out of the car. Harper pulls out a gun and shoots at the deputy before running away, the video shows. The deputy fires back and chases Harper. The sheriff's office said the deputy was grazed in his head and Harper was also shot.
The video then shows the deputy running toward a trampoline in a nearby yard. You then see Harper under the trampoline and a K-9 officer holding him down. You can hear the officer yelling, "Let go of my dog, or I'll shoot you!" The deputy is also yelling for Harper to put down the gun. The sheriff’s office said in November that Harper shot at the K-9 and began hitting the dog.
The deputies took Harper into custody. The K-9 was checked out by a veterinarian for precautionary reasons.
