A helmet saved a biker's life after a water pipe fell from a building onto his head in southern China.

The terrifying moment, filmed in the city of Ganzhou in Jiangxi Province on October 22, shows a water pipe suddenly falling down from a residential building and striking a scooter driver's head as he happened to drive past.

The biker then got off his scooter and rested on the side of the road.

He reportedly called the police and drove away.
