A carjacking suspect crashed a stolen vehicle along Old Dixie Highway on Thursday afternoon, blocking traffic in the area, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the carjacking happened around 2:50 p.m. at 1520 N. U.S. Highway 1 in Ormond Beach.
The suspect then fled in the stolen vehicle, and he ultimately crashed near the exit to Interstate 95, investigators said.
Afterward, the suspect fled into a nearby wooded area, though deputies were eventually able to catch him, a news release shows.
Around 5 p.m., video showed traffic near the site of the crash was blocked, with law enforcement vehicles lining the roadway.
The sheriff’s office released body-camera footage of the suspect’s capture. In the video, a law enforcement canine can be seen tracking down the suspect.
“Get your (expletive) hands up!” a deputy can be heard saying after finding the suspect.
Deputies also said that an “innocent crash victim” was taken to the hospital for treatment.
