Dashcam shows a pursuit of motorcyclist reached speeds of 130 miles per hour in Thurston County
By: A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes early Sunday, including eluding police on a motorcycle, Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders said in a social media post.
Pursuit speeds reached 130 miles per hour, according to Sanders.
A deputy with a K9 tried to stop what Sanders called a “street bike” in north Lacey after the rider passed in a no-pass zone. A check of the license showed the plate belonged to a boat, he said.
The rider fled the traffic stop and a chase began, Sanders said.
“The pursuit entered I-5 heading southbound, where the rider reached speeds of 130 mph,” said Sanders in his post. “I picked up the pursuit at exit 109 and pursued the bike onto Pacific Ave. The rider then exited the roadway down a grass hill into the back entrance of a trailer park, where I found the bike unoccupied a short time later.”
Deputies, Olympia police and the K9 tracked the suspect to a trailer where he was arrested.
According to Thurston County jail information, the man was booked on suspicion of eluding a police vehicle, possession and use of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding state Department of Corrections warrant for third-degree assault.
