Trooper sees house engulfed in flames, rushes to evacuate those in danger
While giving some people a ride home after a traffic stop, Ohio State Trooper Casimir Von Sacken happened upon a Toledo house fully engulfed in flames.
Prior to the arrival of the Toledo Fire Department, Trooper Von Sacken, of the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, rushed to evacuate the next door neighbors from their homes as he noticed the flames beginning to spread.
The fire happened around 3:16 a.m. Saturday, at 1406 Mott Ave. near Elgin Avenue in East Toledo, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.
The Toledo Fire Department reported that there were no injuries and only minimal damage to nearby properties. According to the department, the house was vacant and had been boarded up.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation, although the fire is being investigated as a suspicious in nature, said Pvt. Sterling Rahe, Toledo Fire Department spokesman.
