Video shows CHP hoist grandfather and grandson off a remote 4x4 road in Yolo County
This evening, CHP H-32 responded with the Yolo County Sheriff Office, Capay Valley Fire, AMR Yolo County, and Yocha Dehe Fire to a 911 call reporting an elderly male suffering a medical emergency on a remote 4x4 road.
While en route, H-32 was advised that a grandfather and grandson (23) were off-roading when the vehicle became disabled on a dirt road. Due to a lack of cell reception in the area, the grandson hiked over a mile to where he could call for help.
H-32 arrived overhead, lowered a rescuer to the road, and hoisted the grandfather from the trail. The grandfather was flown several miles to an LZ off of highway 116.
H-32 returned to the location, located the grandson, and hoisted him to firefighters for evaluation as well.
Fortunately, neither the grandfather or grandson were seriously injured.
