Pierce County deputy uses pit maneuver to stop a suspect inside a stolen car in Parkland
At 11:02 am on June 13th, one of our deputies located a stolen vehicle at 96th St and 20th Ave S in Parkland. The suspect immediately fled.
Just as quickly as it started, our deputy performed a successful PIT maneuver in less than 40 seconds. All the screeching you hear is because the deputy pushed the vehicle over 300 feet to have it stopped in front of a telephone pole to help pin the vehicle in.
The deputy gave commands for the driver to exit the car, but realized he needed to wait for more people.
An armed citizen kindly offered to help, but backup had just arrived.
During a search of the man, deputies found a bag of meth in the driver's pocket. In the end, this 44-year-old suspect was booked into the Pierce County Jail for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Maybe this guy didn't know where he was, but these suspects had better think twice before trying to flee from Pierce County Deputies!
