Body cam video shows Edmond officers finding 2 toddlers at home alone after neighbors heard crying
The Edmond Police Department is investigating a child neglect case after neighbors reported hearing children crying alone in a home.
Two toddlers were left inside an Edmond home alone. Police posted body camera video of the incident on Tuesday after they were called to the home when neighbors heard the children crying.
The footage shows officers entering the home and finding two children alone. The children were taken to the police station for snacks while officers worked to locate their mother.
When police finally talked to the mother, officers said she left the children by themselves because she didn't have anyone to watch them while she went to work.
"In Edmond, it's pretty rare. It's not very often we get cases like this," Emily Ward with the Edmond Police Department said. "We had some very diligent neighbors who paid attention, who heard the babies crying inside and knew the mother wasn't there."
The children are now in DHS custody.
The mother is facing two counts of child abuse and neglect.
