Officers Make Traffic Stop-Arrest Convicted Felon With Firearm
On November 11, 2022, Zone 5 Officers observed an orange Dodge Charger run a red light at Marietta Street and Peachtree Street and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the stop, officers noticed the odor of marijuana coming from inside.
The driver and passenger were both detained after officers found the driver was a convicted felon and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and that the passenger had provided a false name.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of two loaded handguns in the glove box. One of the handguns, a Glock 19, had been illegally altered from semi-automatic to fully automatic. The driver and passenger were both charged with narcotics and weapons violations and taken to the Fulton County Jail.

• Possession of a Controlled Substance
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
• Possession of a Dangerous Weapon
