Donaldsonville first responders rescue woman trapped by tree during Hurricane Francine

A body-worn camera captured the dramatic rescue of a woman trapped under a fallen tree as Hurricane Francine swept through Donaldsonville about 8 p.m. Sept. 11.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office shared the video, which showed multiple deputies and first responders from the Donaldsonville Fire Department working for about 40 minutes with chain saws and jacks near the intersection of Elizabeth and First streets in the city.
According to the APSO post, the woman was transported to an area hospital with non-fatal injuries.
Captain Jeff Griffin and Lt. Jason Kling initially responded to the scene along with emergency medical personnel and city firefighters, per the post. They were followed by Sgt. Megan Delaune, Sgt. Jamie Wolfe, Lt. Kelly Brown, Dy. Ahmed and Dy. Laura Mueller, who has served as a volunteer firefighter.
According to the APSO report, the woman was distressed by the situation and deputies guided her through breathing exercises to calm her.
