Chester County police chase ends in truck going airborne, fentanyl arrest
A police chase in Chester County resulted in a suspect’s truck flying into the air and a large-scale drug arrest Thursday morning.
According to the Chester County Sheriff’s Office, deputies initiated a traffic stop at 6:32 a.m. July 11 on JA Cochran Bypass near Columbia Road. The driver was identified as Eric B. Jones, who reportedly had a suspended license.

Body cam video shows officers opening the pickup’s door, and asking Jones to exit the vehicle. That’s when Jones fled from the traffic stop, leading to a pursuit.
Jones’ truck turned onto Ashford Road, serving off the right side of the road. The vehicle then tumbled along its front bumper and came to a stop.
Deputies and K9 Sammie apprehended Jones in the road without further incident. A search of the vehicle allegedly seized these items:
– Approximately 112 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl
– Approximately 56 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine
– $4,373 in cash
– Assortment of pills believed to be controlled substances
Jones was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained during the wreck. Following medical treatment, he was transported to the Chester County Detention Center.
Jones was charged with the following:
Driving Under suspension – third or subsequent offense
Failure to stop for blue lights
Trafficking fentanyl – 28 grams or more
Trafficking methamphetamine – 28 grams or more
Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I-III substance
