A suspect wanted for auto theft is behind bars for a string of alleged crimes, including robbing a Dunkin' Donuts and leading troopers on a dangerous high speed chase from Southfield to Detroit, state police said.

According to police, the trouble began in the area of 8 Mile and Lasher roads around 7:30 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 3) after Southfield police received a report of a carjacking.

Shortly after, officers on Telegraph near 9 Mile spotted the stolen SUV and pursued the suspect. The chase lasted over six miles, with the stolen vehicle topping out at speeds of over 120 mph.

Michigan State Police were called in to assist officers from Southfield during the chase, which was captured on footage from MSP's helicopter, Trooper 2.

At one point, the chase becomes so intense that the suspect still attempts to drive the stolen SUV on its rims, causing sparks to fly all over the road.

Police were in pursuit of the suspect for two minutes, when the driver finally lost control and crashed into two other vehicles in Detroit. They were further prevented from getting away after police pulled a pit maneuver and swarmed the stolen SUV with nine squad cars.

Police told WDIV that the suspect also allegedly robbed a Dunkin' Donuts on Telegraph after they stole the vehicle and before police gave chase.

Upon investigation, police discovered the suspect was armed and recovered a weapon from the SUV.

The suspect was arrested at the scene, The case is now pending possible charges after a review from the Oakland County prosecutor.
