CHP airplane video shows sparking flying from a stolen vehicle when fleeing from San Bruno police
Saturday evening, CHP Airplane 37 (Air-37) responded to assist the San Bruno Police Department, who was actively involved in a pursuit with a stolen vehicle.
Air-37 arrived overhead and began calling the pursuit, allowing ground officers to follow at a safer distance. When Air 37 arrived overhead, the suspect was fleeing at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
CHP ground units successfully deployed spike strips, causing the stolen vehicle's tires to deflate. Unfortunately, even with four flat tires and the vehicle riding on the rims, the driver continued to flee. On I-5 in Sacramento, the driver abruptly pulled to the shoulder and surrendered.
The San Bruno Police will be investigating this incident.
