Las Vegas body cam shows police shooting Dusty Porter after he threatened his sister with a knife
New information just coming in regarding what led up to a central valley officer-involved shooting during a police briefing Monday afternoon.
The incident took place just before 9 pm on Friday, July 21 at a residence near Lake Mead Blvd and Rancho Drive.
During Monday's briefing, the suspect was identified as 35-year-old Dusty Porter, who police say was the suspect threatening his sister with a knife.
Responding officers say could hear a woman screaming as they responded to the call Friday night and eventually kicked in a bathroom door to rescue her.
Body cam video shows the chaotic scene, later displaying a frame of Porter holding the knife and coming toward officers.
He is now recovering at UMC after being shot by an officer and tased.
One of the officers involved, identified as 29-year-old Vladimir Butler, fired one time and is now on routine leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Porter was arrested Friday in absentia and is facing one count of kidnapping in the first degree, one count of kidnapping in the second degree, and one count of resisting an officer with a deadly weapon.
He is due back in court on Tuesday,
