Humboldt Sheriff's Office released video of a deputy-involved shooting that left 2 suspects injured
According to the Eureka Police Department, on April 18, their communication center received a call of a person being beaten in the parking lot of the Bayshore Mall. EPD said by the time officers responded, the suspects fled the scene in a red pickup truck.
Ten minutes later, a vehicle versus pedestrian collision occurred at West Washington and Summer Streets. The 34-year-old male victim in that incident identified the same red truck, and he remains in critical condition.
Sheriff's deputies then spotted the truck in the Cutten area, and a pursuit followed.
"When it [the suspect vehicle] crossed Harris Street at a high rate of speed, it collided with a Toyota pickup truck that was occupied by three. Both of these vehicles spun out and wound up on the northeast corner of the intersection in a private yard," Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal said.
Honsal went on to say a passenger and driver exited the pickup, armed with rifles, and fired at least one shot at deputies. The suspects were struck by gunfire and dropped their weapons, leading deputies to take them both into custody.
