Man shot by two Reno Police officers Monday was wielding knife, air-soft gun
A man was shot by Reno Police following a disturbance call on the morning of August 8, prompting an ongoing investigation from the Sparks Police Department (SPD) and Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO).
The Reno Police Department (RPD) responded to a call on Monday around 10:43 a.m. near Kestrel Court and Kingfisher Drive after a man was reportedly standing in front of a home with a knife and handgun tucked into his waistband.
According to RPD, the man, later identified as Brandon Allan, was walking in the middle of the street when enforcement arrived on the scene at 10:49 a.m. After several verbal commands to Allan to drop his weapons, officers say Allan ignored the commands and began walking away.
While walking away, police say they saw Allan move his hand towards the handgun, which prompted two officers to strike at him. Allan's handgun was later determined to be an air-soft/pellet gun.
Allan is now in stable condition after initial hospitalization, according to SPD.
